Is Sunday Keeping Conversion?

Question : Is Sunday keeping the fruit of spiritual conversion? Is God's Holy Spirit in people that keep Sunday as God's Sabbath,  and who do many good humanitarian works? Are these people converted, and will they be in the first resurrection?

Answer:   First of all, Paul said, "If God's Spirit does not dwell in you, that you are none of His, and that the Spirit of God, that raised up Jesus Christ shall also resurrect -quicken, your mortal bodies by His spirit that dwells in you, Romans 8: 9-11. Secondly, God, not man, has set---laid down the laws, commands, or parameters in which eternal life can be received, and that will only be through man's repentance, faith in Jesus Christ and receiving the gift and power of His Holy Spirit. This miracle working power of God's Spirit helps  and encourages one, after one repents of breaking God's law, to obey God's Ten Commandments.  Obeying God's Ten Commandments through the power of God's Spirit, instructs, guides, and encourages one to become totally converted to a mind and heart of the Spirit, which Christ calls being born again. This is the basis for conversion and God's will for man.

Sunday keeping and humanitarian good works are not the basis for conversion,  even though many deceivers will try to prove them to be so with such scriptures as Rom. 14: 4-8, Mat. 25:31-46, and  James 2:15-17 by lifting these scriptures out of their contest and true spiritual meaning. These are works  of the flesh along with their confessing a false christ that men use as the foundation for what man has set and laid down for conversion and eternal life, and God calls them dead works. They are the works of the flesh and not works or fruit of God's Spirit and true conversion. People following the path of the works of flesh will not be in 1st resurrection and inherit eternal life. Gal. 5:19-21.

The main reason Sunday observers do not have God's Spirit in them is they have not repented of breaking God's Ten commandments, and this is necessary to receive God's Holy Spirit, Acts 2:38. Repentance must be based on a heart that is broken, filled with remorse and sorrow over having broken God's Holy righteous spiritual law-His Ten Commandments.

Many in the churches of God are beginning to respond to the question about people who keep Sunday as the Sabbath with an answer such as; "they can not make a judgment about people keeping Sunday," and this is  said because of "their" understanding of I John 1: 8-10. Here in these verses, they understand the Word to say a converted believer does sin or they believe it says all Christ believers will continue to sin or true believers can't resist sin but they can still have God's Holy Spirit working and growing in them. This Scriptural understanding of theirs continues to be built on foundation of Paul words with them usually quoting Paul, who said "I am the greatest of all sinners,"  or quoting Paul where he says  "the law is spiritual but I am fleshly , sold under sin," meaning , Paul was saying he was fleshly and sinful. Both  Scriptures are taken out of their meaning and context when  they are used to prove that Paul and true believers are sinners and saints alike. These teachers do not teach what Paul was actually saying here in relation and context to other scriptures of his teaching. Paul was saying that he has been the greatest of all sinners, because he persecuted the true church of God, before his conversion, not that Paul after conversion, was the greatest of sinners which was the time of this writing because if he was, Paul had to be the biggest hypocrite that has ever preached the Word of God, based on all that he has written against sin and sinners.

Also Paul was not a fleshly, carnal minded Christian  after his conversion that could not control his desires, emotions,  and his fleshly appetite. Paul was not  a fleshly minded Christian who could not resist sin, and all its temptations, as has been preached and judged falsely against him from Rom. 7: 14-25. People have been led to believe this error, which is taught by teachers professing to be ministers of Christ. By this false teaching and understanding of these scriptures, these false teachers go around the country teaching, misleading , and deceiving all true believers, by causing them to believe they are sinners as well saints. This false teaching stops spiritual growth in all begotten sons--spiritual fetuses, in who Christ desires to work a work of causing a called and chosen son of God to be born-again of the Spirit to be a new spiritual creation while still in the body of flesh.

Paul and John both make it plain if you claim to have God's Holy Spirit, and are committing to sin, you are in darkness and need to repent, and if you don't, you can forget about being in God's Kingdom. John, in his letters to all the churches of Revelation 2-3 said, "That if they (some to many of the church members) did not repent of their sins, of their on going sins, they would not be in God's Kingdom. " Paul, in his letter to the churches in I Cor. 6: 9-10, and Galations 5:19-21, warned if they did not repent of their sins, and he lists a number of  them, that they would not inherit the Kingdom of God. This is heavy, heavy correction to people committing sin, and to all church members who say they are sinners and church members  of Jesus Christ as well.

There has been and still is an on going erroneous teaching, a false teaching, about these verses in I John 1: 5-10 and its' context. These verses are not saying a truly converted saint, who has come out of the sin of darkness, is also an on-going sinner. The context of these verses and their understanding is revealed in verse 5 & 6. John is saying, "If any church member who professes to be walking in the light, meaning he professes to be living and obeying God's commandments, fulfilling the Gospel of Christ in his life, but in reality, and as his behavior  bears the fruit of sin, is a liar. " This church member is still walking and living in darkness, meaning he is still sinning, breaking one or more of God's Commandments, and not following the leadership of Jesus Christ and His Spirit in his life, John says this person and all such people that say they have fellowship with Jesus Christ, yet walk in darkness, in verse 6, is lying and does not the truth. Verses 5 & 6 is the foundation statement that prefaces verse 8 & 10. And verse 8 says, "if they say they have no sin, ( yet  still living in darkness of pride, self-righteous, unlawful lust of the eyes or as such sins ) is deceiving himself and truth is not in them , and in verse 10,  if he says he has not sinned,  ( yet continues in sin-darkness ) is a liar and Christ is not in that person." John makes it  crystal clear and plain in chapter 2 and verse 4, "He that says he knows Jesus Christ and keeps not His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him." This person is still in darkness. Pride and self-righteousness breaks the 1st commandment. Unlawful lust of the eyes breaks the 10th commandment, which is also idolatry. Breaking God's commandments is sin and darkness and keeps one in darkness.

Sin has been made to be very illusive, something we can't really pin down by the world's churches, and even the Churches of God, but this is a lie and false teaching, because God makes it plain what is sin, and that it is the breaking of His law, His Ten Commandments, and people can repent, change, and walk in the light, and obey the Ten Commandments. God says, with His Holy Spirit in us, it is possible to do so, to live each day in the light without breaking His Ten Commandments. Yet church people are told continually and often that they are every day sinners, and that they continually are committing sin.

By church people accepting this false understanding,  spiritual growth to overcome sin stops and the spiritual fetus  of God's spirit in that person stops growth, and can even begin to abort. Conversion stops and has not been completed. However, because of this false teaching, we will have to admit  with shame on them that many church people are sinners, are not concerned about sin and are not overcoming the temptations of sin. They are not sin forgiven saints,  and are  not following the will of God because they are still living in darkness and still are sinners. They will reap the wages of sin. This is all because of this very corrupt teaching and lies of the "ministry." People who accept this false teaching are denying the power from Christ to keep His Ten Commandments in their entirety, without breaking them. Doesn't Paul tell Timothy that in the last days this would happen -"people playing church and denying the power thereof?" II Tim. 3:1-5.

The understanding of these verses, of what  is taught here in this article, is in complete unity with what John teaches in I John 3: 5-10. All Scripture must agree with other Scriptures , and if it doesn't, someone is teaching a lie-!!! John says, "Whoever abides in Him--Jesus Christ, sins not, does not sin," and in verse 7, John says, "Let no man deceive you (about the understanding of sin as most all church people have been) he that does righteousness, is righteous (not a sinner) even as He (Christ) is righteous." Verse 8 says, "He that commits sin is of the devil, and verse 9, whosoever is born of God, led by God's Spirit (not just begotten, our article on Being Born Again makes this clear) does not commit sin, for Christ remains in him, and he cannot sin, or will not sin, because he is born of God (led by God's Spirit and has a heart of the spirit) ." I John 2: 29, "If you know that He (Christ) is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness (obeys His law and does not commit sin) is born of Him."

So this teaching, "that both (Sabbath or Sunday keepers) are all sinners," that has been taught in all or the  churches of God and Jesus Christ, is in total error, and is a false teaching. We are either a sinner or saint, not both. Everyone will have to examine his life to know. If any is still sinning and walking in darkness, he is breaking God's law, His Ten Commandments, and needs to repent quickly, or lose his salvation.

Keeping Sunday as God's Sabbath is the way of Satan and the flesh and will bring death. Keeping the 7th day Sabbath-Saturday is the way of The Father and Jesus Christ. It is the way of the commandments and the way of the Spirit. This is also the way of true conversion and the 1st resurrection.

Anyone who does not have this understanding should not be teaching God's people, because this is a basic doctrine of Jesus Christ and His Word.
