Is the breaking of God's Sabbath commandment a broken law that constitutes
sin, a sin that Jesus Christ came to give His life in death to
cover its sin penalty, but only for those who will repent of transgressing and profaning this holy time period?
"Thus says the Lord, Keep you judgment (make
just decisions), and do justice (do what God commands): for my salvation
is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man
that does this, and the son of man that lays hold on it; that keeps the Sabbath from polluting it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil, (any evil and Sabbath breaking are all transgressions of God's law).
Isaiah 56:1-2
The Lord God goes on to say to the
single person or to any person (gentile or Jew) that joins himself to the Lord
by seeking God's Kingdom, as becoming a eunuch for the kingdom's sake by saying in Isaiah 56:3-5
"Neither let the son of the stranger (gentile), that has joined himself
to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord has utterly separated me from
His people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry (unfruitful) tree.
For thus says the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my Sabbaths, and choose
the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will
I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of
sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not
be cut off."
The Lord continues to say in verses 6-7
"Also the sons of the stranger (gentiles) that join themselves to the Lord,
to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, every one that keeps the Sabbath from polluting it
, and takes hold of my covenant: Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, (to be accepted in God's Kingdom)
Why will man in all of his life recognize and schedule
all of his work and activities by God's created 7 day week, but will not
recognize the Creator's special, purposeful, sacred 7th day Sabbath of His created
week? Recognizing the 7th day of God's created week can give man great purpose to
his life and good understanding about his Creator that the Lord desires for
every person to come to see. Man lives his life as if the 7 day week
just evolved and that God had nothing to do with creating it, but nonetheless,
man still recognizes and lives his life each week within its time limits.
In the beginning, God, along with his created 6 work days, also created and
commanded the 7th day to be sacred and holy time of His created week. But
man neglects this created, special day and refuses to keep holy this commanded
special time of each week that could help give him purpose to his life and
provide the opportunity to receive eternal life.
God's law that was given to man as God's 4th commandment says, "Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy." The Lord God says it is a sin
to transgress His law. When a person does not remember God's holy Sabbath by working on that
day, such as in conducting one's business, by selling or buying on that day, or by
doing one's own pleasures during that holy time and day, he transgresses and
profanes the Lord's Seventh Day Sabbath. This is a sin
of every Sabbath transgressor that must be repented of in order to be accepted
by Jesus Christ for His Grace and Salvation if a person truly desires eternal
life in God's Kingdom. This is a sin that Jesus Christ also died for to pay
its death penalty punishment, but can be forgiven upon repentance, obedience,
and faith in Jesus Christ.
God's 7th day Sabbath is the 24 hour period
of time of each week that the Lord God created as holy time and commands man to stop working and
rest from his physical work to be refreshed. That is a blessing
to man, but looked upon by him as burden and a curse. This created, 7th day
gives man free time from his physical toil, and gives to man a valuable day
with free time to think about his life and do the spiritual work that God
desires greatly to be done in man's life. This is the day that God established
to be Holy at the very beginning of all of God's Creation, for all men, and
is a sin when this holy time, and its opportunity to accomplish something
everlasting in one's life, is wasted away and neglected and forgotten, and used for man's own personal vain use.
God in His love, created the 7th day work week, with the 7th
day of every week to be His Sabbath. The created Sabbath is a special
gift to man, that provides a great opportunity for him to learn why he was created,
what is his purpose for life, and how he can become an eternal, living son
of His Creator God, to reside in His Kingdom forever. So any of the evil works
that men do on this Holy Sabbath, 7th day of each week by working, buying,
selling, or using this holy time for man's personal and vain use, is neglecting and wasting
away another opportunity each week to understand about how one receives eternal
life. This profaning of God's, holy time is transgressing God's law, which
the Lord says is sin and demands His judgment. I John 3:4 says, "Sin is the transgression of the law." and Rom. 6:23 says, "The payment for sin is death---."
Will God have to repent to people of the
past in the judgment, because they broke His Sabbath and suffered the punishment
of death? Today nearly all church people believe that God has changed
and that He no longer holds people responsible for the sin of profaning
His 7th day Sabbath, as well as sins of the other commandments by their transgressions.
Church people of today's Christianity have made God over in their own image,
creating a false god, a false Christ that permits sin, yet the Scripture says He changes
not! Is God a respector of persons with His judgment against sin? If
Jesus Christ does not acknowledge the transgression of His 7th day Sabbath
today as a sin deserving His judgment, then Christ would be making void His
own Sacrifice of suffering, shed blood, and death for man's sins and would
be perverting His own Gospel.
The majority of people live their lives as if
God does not exist, and that His Word has no power and authority over them, but His Word
says only a fool would believe and think and live this way. Does the death
of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the New Testament do away with the Sabbath
commandment and its transgression penalty? No, absolutely not!
Instead, Christ made a way whereas a Sabbath sinner and a profaner
and waster of that holy time can be forgiven, and that is through repentance,
followed with obedience of keeping His Sabbath, and accepting Christ's atoning
sacrifice and death to cover and justify this sin in order to receive His Grace and eternal life.
This 4th commandment pertaining to God's Sabbath, still
stands in its full authority and in its entirety, as was given by
the Lord God in the beginning to all men, Gen. 2:1-3, and to Moses and the
nation of Israel in greater detail, Ex. 20:8-11.
All of the nation of Israel were appointed
to be priests, Ex. 19:5-6, as examples to the all the world. Priests were
to teach the law to all people, " For the priest's lips should keep
knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth, for he is the messenger
of the Lord of hosts," Mal. 2:7. Jesus Christ is everyone's
high Priest and Apostle, (Heb. 3:1), that all other servants and priests
must submit to in their obedience and doing the work of God. Christ
our high priest tells us in Mat. 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law---," but today's professed Christians believe He did, especially the 4th commandment.
The 4th commandment is a witness against all of its transgressors who desire
eternal life, but will not receive it unless they repent of transgressing
this 4th commandment. When Jesus Christ came in the flesh, He did not minimize,
or compromise, or in any way do away with His law pertaining to the Sabbath
that He created in very beginning for all men, John 1:1-14. Jesus Christ
kept to the fullest intent and purpose His created Holy Sabbath day, and commands
His disciples to do the same today. Christ said in Mark 2:27-28 -"The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath,
and that Jesus Christ is also Lord of the Sabbath,"
not the 1st day, a work day, today called Sunday.
Is Jesus Christ pleased with today's
professed Christianity keeping Sunday as being God's sabbath? Here are Questions
and Answers pertaining to God's 7th Day Sabbath.
